EACH partners in action for World Heart Day and EU Screening Week 2026

To mark World Heart Day and EU Screening Week 2026, members and partners of the European Alliance for Cardiovascular Health (EACH) are taking action across Europe to raise awareness, promote prevention, advocate for stronger cardiovascular health policies, and encourage people to know their cardiovascular health and risk.

Explore how our partners are making a difference across Europe.

World Heart Federation

For World Heart Day 2026, the World Heart Federation (WHF) is engaging people worldwide through digital activities including the Keep the Beat Challenge, encouraging people to stay active; Heart Stories, inviting people to share their personal experiences; and the Heart Smart Quiz, designed to test and improve knowledge of cardiovascular health.

WHF is also organising and supporting in-person activities around the world. The official World Heart Day event in Abuja, Nigeria, alongside an event in Lagos, will feature cardiovascular health screenings, discussions and community activities.

In Geneva, WHF will join activities at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG), raising awareness of the importance of regularly checking cardiovascular risk factors. Participants will have access to blood pressure screening, nutrition and physical activity assessments and counselling, as well as free lipid and glucose testing.

European Society of Cardiology

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC), in partnership with the International Diabetes Federation Europe and with support from the Belgian Heart League, Belgian Society of Cardiology, Diabetes Liga and Association du Diabète, is bringing #KnowYourNumbers to Brussels. From 28 September to 2 October, a cardiovascular health check zone outside the European Commission’s Berlaymont Building will offer free blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar checks, raising awareness of cardiovascular risk factors and the importance of early detection and prevention.

Across Europe, 12 ESC National Cardiac Societies are also supporting EU Screening Week through health checks, awareness activities, community outreach and education.

European Heart Network

On World Heart Day, the European Heart Network is collaborating with the ESC Patient Forum on a webinar exploring what the new ESC Guidelines on Cardiac Rehabilitation mean for patients and caregivers. Bringing together clinical expertise and patient perspectives, the session will explore how patients can use the guidelines to support informed conversations with healthcare professionals and advocate for their care.

Across Europe, EHN members are marking World Heart Day and EU Screening Week with cardiovascular screening, prevention and awareness activities.

FH Europe

To mark FH Awareness Day, FH Europe Foundation, together with EPHA, is launching a three-part webinar series exploring cholesterol, familial hypercholesterolaemia (FH) and other lipid-related cardiovascular risk factors.

From understanding cholesterol and test results to exploring cardiovascular risk calculators and treatment options today and tomorrow, the series will bring together experts to translate science into clear, practical knowledge. Launching during EU Screening Week, the trilogy supports the ambitions of the Know Your Numbers campaign and the EU Safe Hearts Plan to strengthen early detection and cardiovascular prevention across Europe.

MedTech Europe

MedTech Europe is launching a Q&A video series on cardiovascular health checks, exploring what they should include and how medical technology, diagnostics and digital tools can support prevention and early detection. The series aims to improve health literacy and help people better understand their cardiovascular risk and take early action.

Furthermore, MedTech Europe has developed postcards tailored to each EU Member State, pairing national heart health facts with a call for decision-makers to expand cardiovascular health checks and support an ambitious Council Recommendation.

COCIR

During EU Screening Week, COCIR will spotlight five key cardiovascular screening tools, focusing on one each day. The initiative will explain when each tool is used, what conditions it can help detect, why it matters and what patients can expect during an examination, using clear visuals to make cardiovascular screening easier to understand.
