28 September – 06 October 2026
The European Alliance for Cardiovascular Health (EACH) is pleased to support the first-ever EU Screening Week, a European Commission initiative taking place the week of 29 September 2026, coinciding with World Heart Day.
Framed as a cardiometabolic prevention and screening initiative and linked to the Safe Hearts Plan and the Know Your Numbers campaign, EU Screening Week aims to create a visible, EU-wide prevention moment. Its goal is simple but powerful: to encourage citizens to know their key cardiovascular health numbers, in particular blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, and to empower them to take early preventive action.
Participation is deliberately flexible: alongside practical screening activities, awareness-raising events, educational initiatives, community outreach, communication campaigns and the promotion of existing national screening programmes all count.
How to take part
Organisations are invited to register their planned activities on the dedicated European Commission platform by 20 September. Registered activities will be featured on a dedicated Commission webpage showing where screenings and awareness initiatives are taking place across Europe. Titles and descriptions can be submitted in national languages to reach local audiences while reflecting the truly European dimension of the campaign.
A communication toolkit, including the campaign visual identity, templates, suggested social media content and physical materials such as stickers, flyers and pins, will be shared towards the end of August / beginning of September.
EACH encourages its members and partners to mobilise their national networks and join this collective effort to put prevention and early detection at the heart of the European Health Union.
